Wiltshire Road Race League #6

09/06/2013 By Rich Keyzor

One hundred and thirty runners lined up in the sunshine for the Chippenham 5-mile road race. Leading from the outset was nineteen year old Simon Nott of Calne Running Club who set a new personal best time and course record of twenty five minutes and fifty four seconds nearly two minutes ahead of second placed Ewen Malloch of Team Bath and Gary Dunstone of Chippenham Harriers.

In the ladies race Fiona Price of Avon Valley Runners was the untroubled winner in a time of thirty two minutes and forty seconds. With second placed Kate Ellis of Devizes Running Club nearly two minutes back and third placed Debbie Jones of Chippenham Harriers a further 45-seconds adrift.

As the host club, Chippenham Harriers were very thin on the ground in the race lineup, enabling Avon Valley Runners to take both the Men & Ladies team titles and claim maximum points in the Wiltshire Road Race League and further strengthening their position at the top of Division One. In Division two Devizes Running Club claimed their fourth consecutive victory and are looking like a good bet for promotion back into the top flight.

The next race in the Wiltshire Road Race League will be the Springfield 5K on 10th
July.
