Wiltshire Road Race League #3
Over a thousand runners lined up in Corsham’s Lacock Road for the St Georges 10K. The race saw Simon Nott of Calne Running Club lead from the start to take victory in a new course record tme of 31:12 nearly three minutes ahead of second placed Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners. A strong presence by Avon Valley Runners with over sixty athletes in the field took maximum League points and remain in control at the top of Division One of the Wiltshire Road Race League wih Gary Dunstone of Chippenham Harriers who finished in 6th place, the overall leading points scorer.
In the Ladies race Helen Newbury of Bristol & West AC was first across the line but in third place, Denise Grech of Calne Running Club was the first Wiltshire athlete. and means that despite Team Bath – B taking maximum points, Calne Running Club remain at the top of the Second Division of the Wiltshire Road Race League ahead of Bybrook Valley Runners. Kate Wilkins of Devizes Running Club who finished 8th is the top scorer for the Ladies.
The next event in the Wiltshire Race League is the Trowbridge 5K on Sunday 4th May.
