Wiltshire Road Race League #2

Three hundred and fifty runners lined up in Highworth for the second race in the 2015 Wiltshire Road Race League sponsored by Newsquest International. Twenty one year old Nyle Clinton of Swindon Harriers had a largely untroubled run to take victory clocking a swift time of 25:54 with previous winner, Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners over 80-seconds adrift in second place just ahead of Denis Galerin of Cirencester AC and Rich Ayling also of Avon Valley Runners.

In the ladies race Ruth Barnes of Avon Valley Runners had a storming run to take victory in 29:29 just 30-seconds ahead of previous race winners, Kate Jacobs of Swindon Harriers and Wendy Nicholls of Cirencester AC.

With five men in the top-20 finishers and some good performances by their Ladies, Avon Valley Runners claimed the maximum 20-points on offer in the Wiltshire Road Race League ahead of Chippenham Harriers and Swindon Harriers and sit at the top of the First Division, whilst Swindon Striders took the maximum points in the Second Division and move into fourth spot with Corsham Running Club at the top. The next event in the Newsquest International sponsored Wiltshire Road Race League is the St Georges 10K in Corsham which takes place on Sunday 19th April and also hosts the county championships for the distance.
