WORL Race #7

22/02/2016 By Rich Keyzor

With Mike Rose of Avon Valley Runners leading home the Wiltshire affiliated athletes at the Smartt Smasher it was Chippenham Harriers who took full League points and the Wiltshire Off-Road League title for the second year. Calne Running Club and Frome Running Club both win promotion into the First Division.

With the best six of eight races coming into play the individual League honours are wide open with any one of eight ladies able to top the standings. For the Men, Paul Gardiner of Chippenham Harriers cannot be caught as the leading scorer and neither can Frank Lamerton of Avon Valley Runners in the MV60 category but the MV40 and MV50 categories can be claimed by anyone of a number of runners including David Warren of Avon Valley Runners (V40), Simon Rawlins of Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds (V40), Johnni Suckling of Slinn Allstars (V40), Richard Hudson of Avon Valley Runners (V50), Steve Watts of Calne Running Club (V50), Stuart MacMillon and John Hayter both of Chippenham Harriers (V50) all in with a shout.

The honours will be decided at the final race being the 12-mile Wiltshire Scramble at Spithill on Sunday 6th March.
