Wiltshire Road Relays 2013

Wiltshire Road Relays 2013

The sun shone down on Castle Combe Circuit for the thirty two teams that had signed up for the third
running of the Wiltshire Road Relays organised by Wiltshire Athletic Association and sponsored by DB Max and Stampede Sports.

With the junior teams each tackling three legs of 3K the competition was fierce, with Finn Ross of Avon
Valley Runners recording the fastest leg of the day with an impressive ten minutes and twelve seconds,
however it was Corsham Running Club who claimed victory with their team of Elen Lyndsey, James Johnston & Kirsty Stanley taking the honours with a total time of 34:44.

In the senior race, Kyle Hackett of Avon Valley Runners set off at a blistering pace to record the fastest
leg of the day of 19:06 for the 6K course, handing over to Pete Veleski with a lead of over 600m! Pete
Veleski then passed the baton onto Michael Towler who had an untroubled run to secure victory for Avon Valley Runners with a lead of over 6-minutes from second placed Chippenham Harriers and a fast finishing City of Salisbury A&RC team in third, claiming the Veteran Team prize. In fourth place Frome Running Club were the first Super-Vet team to finish..

The ladies race however was not so clear cut with Swindon Harriers, Avon Valley Runners, City of Salisbury A&RC and Chippenham Harriers all in close contention until the final leg when Kate Jacobs of Swindon Harriers stormed away with the fastest leg of the day in 22:00 to lead her club mates Lillie Bellamy and Lucy Doughty to victory, second placed Avon Valley Runners scooped the Veteran Team prize.
