#2 Dorset Doddlers: The Stickler – 27th October
Approximately 10 miles
Entry: £22
We’ve all seen the Dorset Doddlers at various races in Wiltshire, let’s go and support one of their club’s great offerings as the second of our two out of county entries in the WORRL 24/25.
In their own words:
The route: The Stickler (now in its 29th year) is a 10.1 mile multi-terrain running race over the Dorset Three Peaks (involves over 1500ft of gruelling climbing). The race begins with the infamous ‘Stickle Path’. Runners ascend the three locally renowned peaks along the beautiful Stour Valley: Okeford Beacon, Hod Hill and Hambledon Hill. The course is mostly on gravel tracks, with some stretches on tarmac and grass.
Additional details: water stations, cupless, ,tshirt momento. refreshments available afterwards.
#3 Over The Hills – 3rd November
approximately 11.5 km
Entry: £15
Expect everything and you won’t be disappointed!
The cake stall afterwards in aid of Alzheimer’s Society is one not to be missed!
#4 Avebury8 Nine – 17th November
Between 8 and 9 miles, depending on the RDs decisions on the day! Really down to the weather and trail conditions & permissions
Entry: £18
We’re delighted to have this race back in the league after so long. It’s so popular that many of us never left it!
I’d advise entering early as it can be very popular.
Additional info – this race has the best momento out there!
#5 Yarnbury Yomp – 24th November
Approximately 10km
Entry: £18
This has been in the league since the race was dreamt up. It’s an ideal race for all abilities. One half is mainly up, while the other is mainly down! The weather has played a huge part in this race’s appeal and last year included the addition of ducks on one of the larger puddles
#6 Slaughterford 9 – 26th January
Approximately 8.5 miles
Hosted by Chippenham Harriers, with stunning views throughout the race. We have mud, hills, woodland, a river and always a Sting in the Tail!
#7 Terminator – 23rd February
Hosted by Pewsey Vale RC, who doesn’t relish this challenge!
Approximately 12 miles, hilly, you get to visit a White Horse on the way – if you notice it!
Enjoy!!
