Wiltshire Race League #3

The weather held for the 700+ runners who lined up in Corsham’s Lacock Road for the St Georges 10K. The race was started by local Member of Parliament Duncan Hames and saw Simon Plummer of Salisbury A&RC lead from the off to take victory in 32:29 just 20-seconds outside of the course record and one minute and fifteen seconds ahead of two time race winner Simon Nott from Calne. In fifth place overall Peter Cusick of Chippenham Harriers finished as the 1st MV40 and led club mates Paul Gillham, Richard Schofield and Neil Perry to the team prize and see’s Chippenham Harriers climb back to the top of the Wiltshire Race League ahead of Avon Valley Runners. In 10th place overall was David Vaudin of Team Bath who finished as 1st MV50 and now finds himself as the leading scorer in the Wiltshire Race League with 283.

In the Ladies race Sam Kelly of Wotton Bassett Hounds took the lead after 3 kilometres and claimed the win on the undulating course in a time of 40:43 over a minute ahead of Avon Valley Runner Leanne Tiley. In third place Vicky Moriaty led Chippenham Harriers to the ladies team prize with clubmates Mandy Thorpe, Sue Stewart-Tanner and Georgia Thomas. The result also saw Chippenham Harriers move into the top spot of the Wiltshire Race League ahead of  Avon Valley Runners, with Mandy Thorpe the leading female scorer with 292.

The next event in the Wiltshire Race League is the Highworth 5 on Sunday 29th April.
