WAA e-bulletin 1201

First of all, thank you to all who supported the county Track and Field Championships which took place at Tidworth on 13^th May. We had one of the largest attendances in recent years with 250 athletes making it onto the start line representing most of Wiltshire’s clubs and schools. New in 2012 is the Wiltshire Race League which is proving a good vehicle for the counties road running clubs to take each other on head-to-head. After four races so far, Chippenham Harriers head both the Men’s and Ladies tables with Avon Valley Runners hot on their heels. The next race is the Bath Hilly 10 being held on Sunday 3^rd June from Culverhay Sports Centre in Bath, details can be found at http://www.bathhillyten.co.uk/ I would also like to point out that Race #7 The TBAS 10K at Castle Combe on Sunday 29^th July will also be hosting the Wiltshire championships for the distance, so there will be county medals on offer to the leading runners in the county.

Looking further forward, and on Saturday 18^th August, Wiltshire Athletic Association will be hosting a Half Marathon Training Day from Christie Miller Sports Centre in Melksham. The day includes run sessions led by Team GB International runner, Holly Rush and coach led sessions by UK:Athletics National Coach Mentor Martin Rush as well as Half Marathon Q&A, Nutritional advice and the chance to win free entry into a number of forthcoming local Half Marathons including Devizes, Malmesbury and Cricklade. The cost will be just £12 per runner, though discounts will be available to clubs with ten or more runners attending. This event is open exclusively to members belonging to Wiltshire Athletic Association affiliated clubs and registration is in advance only.
