Wiltshire 10K Championships

29/07/2012 By Rich Keyzor

Simon Plummer of Salisbury A&RC ran the fastest 10K by a Wiltshire athlete this year clocking a time of 31:54 behind visiting Kenyan athlete John Kales. Also having a good run around the Castle Combe circuit was Simon Nott of Calne Running Club who clocked 32:49. Avon Valley Runner Ruth Barnes recorded a time of 38:14 to take the ladies title behind Cornwall AC veteran Emma Stepto.

In the Wiltshire Race League it was Team Bath whose Mens team took maximum points ahead of Swindon Harriers and Avon Valley Runners – who now have a two point advantage at the top of the table over Chippenham Harriers. Though in the Ladies race it was the familiar battle for points between Chippenham Harriers and Avon Valley Runners with AVR getting the upper hand on this occassion and now sit just one point behind Chippenham Harreirs at the head of the League.

The next race in the Wiltshire Race League is the Foxtrot 5 being held at Broughton Gifford on Sunday 26th August.
