Simon Plummer of Salisbury A&RC ran a storming 53:14 to retain his county title and win the Melksham 10 road race finishing well over a minute ahead of Simon Nott of Calne Running Club who was making his debut at the distance. Alec Leslie of Swindon Striders finished third.

Avon Valley Runner Ruth Barnes recorded an impressive 62:45 to claim her second Wiltshire county crown, in fourth place overall Fiona Price of Avon Valley Runners took the county silver medal and fifth placed Michelle Maxwell of Chippenham Harriers took bronze.

In the Wiltshire Race League it was Avon Valley Runners who took maximum points ahead of Chippenham Harriers and now head both the Men & Ladies League tables.

The next race in the Wiltshire Race League is the Cricklade Half Marathon being held on Sunday 7th October and will also host the Wiltshire county championships for the distance.
