14/02/2016 By Rich Keyzor

The South West Inter-Counties Road Running championships over the 10-mile distance saw Wiltshire take victory in both the Mens and Ladies races at the Wiltshire 10 in Melksham.

Wiltshire men were led home by Simon Nott of Calne Runnning Club who won the race outright in 53-minutes 33-seconds and supported by 8th place Rich Ayling of Avon Valley Runners, 11th place Heath Bampton of Oxford AC, 17th placed Mike Rose of Avon Valley Runners and 18th placed Stuart Henderson of Team Bath AC scored ahead of Avon, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Jenny Spinks of Bristol & West AC smashed the ladies course record in 56-minutes and 18-seconds to lead home for Avon, but it was second placed Jackie Rockliffe of Avon Valley Runners along with club mate Ruth Barnes, the Chippenham Harriers pair of Claire Frances and Michelle Maxwell and Team Bath’s Lisa Bennett who outscored their county rivals and leave Wiltshire in a strong position before the next race in the championship series: The Frome 10K on Sunday 17th July and then the Stur Half in Dorset on Sunday 7th August.
