National Inter-Counties XC

Wiltshire sent eight teams to the National Inter-Counties XC Championships held at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough. This being the highest level of domestic competition in Great Britain saw Wiltshire athletes up against the best in the country.

The first team out to tackle a 3000m course were the U13-Boys with 43rd placed Robert Jones of New Forest Junior AC leading home and seeing the county finish 42nd. Next up were the Senior Ladies who faced 8000m leading the way for Wiltshire was 2016/17 Wiltshire Off-Road Race League Champion Hannah Claydon of Swindon Harriers who finished in 106th with Wiltshire the 22nd placed county team. The U15-Boys faced 4500m and were led home by 165th placed Nile Battey from City of Salisbury A&RC with Wiltshire finishing 41st.

The U17 Women saw the best individual Wiltshire performance of the day with Jade Littlechild of Team Bath finishing in 32nd place over the 5000m course with Wiltshire in 22nd place overall. The U13 Girls faced 3000m and 71st placed Olivia Roderick of IIF led Wiltshire home for 22nd place. The U17 Men had 6000m to run with Ethan Pierce from Swindon Harriers leading home in 130th with Wiltshire 32nd team. The U15 Girls ran 4000m with 147th placed Katie Robinson of Team Bath leading home for Wiltshire, who finished as 41st team.

The final event of the day was the Senior Men with 12000m of running and were led home by Aldershot’s Olympian athlete Andy Vernon running for Hampshire. Leading home for Wiltshire was 72nd placed Simon Nott of Calne Running Club with Wiltshire team finishing 26th.
