South West Cross Country Championships 8th January 2023 – Report
Merryfield, Ilton, Somerset
Fantastic performances by all of our Wiltshire athletes in very wet and muddy conditions. Particular congratulations to Charissa Griffiths-Clack [Swindon Harriers] who won the U11 girls and Sophie Wood [City of Salisbury ARC] who won U15 girls races.
Wiltshire won six team prizes –
U20 Women Gold – 18th Annabelle Wallace [Team Bath AC], 24th Lizzie Norton [City of Salisbury AC], 32nd Imogen Tanner [City of Salisbury ARC] and 50th Daisy Badger [City of Salisbury AC].
U13 girls silver – 2nd Olivia Paul [Team Bath AC], 3rd Sophie Maxwell [Team Bath AC], 16th Olivia Barnett [City of Salisbury ARC] and 17th Elara Jacobs [City of Salisbury ARC].
U15 Boys bronze – 4th Tobi-Lee Loughlin [Team Bath AC], 18th Will Smith [Avon Valley Runners], 22nd Charlie Coles [City of Salisbury ARC], and 24th Daniel Phelps [Chippenham Harriers].
U17 Men bronze – 2nd Harry Maxwell [Team Bath AC], 5th Joshua Maxwell [Team Bath AC], 16th Ben Wagstaff [Team Bath AC] and 40th Ned Blackman [Team Bath AC].
Senior Women bronze – 3rd Amber Gascoigne, 1F35 [Team Bath AC], 18th Annabelle Wallace [Team Bath AC], 23rd Jacqueline Rockliffe, 1F45 [Weston Tempo] and 24th Lizzie Norton [City of Salisbury ARC].
Senior Men bronze – 6th Simon Bryne [Swindon Harriers],25th Daniel Giles [Calne RC], 27th Dan Poynton [Exeter University AC], 38th Aidan Daniel [Team Bath AC] and 48th Jack Gunning [Swindon Harriers].
We look forward to the National CAU Inter-county Cross Country Championships on the 11 March. WAA team managers will be in touch with selected athletes. WAA will enter and pay for the county teams.
